BLICK NACH VORN N° 11 – DIY.Community.Empowerment.

Marlene Lerch, founder of Berlin-based non-profit start-up Hack Your Shack will be introducing us to her non-profit project dooiy.org,  a platform that empowers people in economic poverty through practical information improving their lives based on the resources available to them.

The do-it-yourself platform that Marlene’s team developed together with and for people living in poverty-stricken contexts such as slums. How do you grow vegetables in a small space? How do you make soap? Or how do you construct a fire extinguisher with simple means? All instructions on the platform are open source and come from a growing network of NGOs, universities, entrepreneurs, municipalities and, of course, makers from the communities themselves.

At BLICK NACH VORN N° 11, Marlene shares with us her experiences so far and discusses current challenges and opportunities to get involved.
